State of Play - State of Play is a British television drama serial, first broadcast on BBC One in 2003. Produced in-house by the BBC, in association with independent production company Endor Productions, it was written by Paul Abbott, directed by David Yates and starred David Morrissey, John Simm, Polly Walker, and Bill Nighy.

Dimitry's Shade: A Reading of Alexander Pushkin's Boris Godunov by J. Douglas Clayton,

In an ambitious reinterpretation of the premier work of Russia's national poet, J. Douglas Clayton reads Boris Godunov as the expression of Alexander Pushkin's thinking about the Russian state, especially the Russian state of his own time (some two hundred years distant from the events of the play), play shock state and even his own place within that state. Dimitry's Shade makes a startling departure from the traditional interpretation of Boris Godunov as the somewhat awkward product of an exiled play shock state and angry young liberal-leaning poet who hated Tsar Alexander I, questioned autocracy, play shock state and flirted with atheism. His work portrays Boris Godunov as Pushkin's most important statement of adherence to what might be called the orthodox discourse -- an adherence as much patriotic as religious. Sure to shock readers even as it persuades them, Dimitry's Shade reveals, incarnated in Boris Godunov, those three elements that were to become the slogan of Tsar Nicholas's Russia in the 1830s: autocracy, orthodoxy, play shock state and nationality.

Embodied Memory: The Theatre of George Tabori by Anat Feinberg,

In Embodied Memory, Anat Feinberg offers the first English-language study of the controversial dramatist George Tabori. A Jewish-Hungarian playwright play shock state and novelist, Tabori is a unique figure in postwar German theatre -- one of the few theatre people since Bertolt Brecht to embody "the ideal union" of playwright, director, theatre manager, play shock state and actor. Revered as a "theatre guru, " Tabori's career, first in the United States play shock state and later in Germany, is fraught with controversy. Making use of invaluable archival material, Feinberg's biographical account is followed by a study of Tabori's experimental theatre work. As did prominent avant-gardists such as Grotowski or Chaikin, Tabori sought to open up new vistas in an otherwise mainstream theatre system. Feinberg pays special attention to Tabori's theatrical innovations, most movingly found in his Holocaust plays. There Feinberg shows the ways in which Tabori's theatre becomes a locus ofremembrance (Gedachtnisort) play shock state and of unique, engaging memory-work (Erinnerungsarbeit).
