Adversary Bankruptcy Contested Matter Proceedings
Adversary proceeding - An Adversary Proceeding, in bankruptcy, is a lawsuit, in the American legal system, filed by a party called a "plaintiff" against a party called a "defendant." See also Bankruptcy in the United States.
United States bankruptcy court - In the United States, federal courts have subject matter jurisdiction over bankruptcy cases. Bankruptcy cases cannot be filed in state court.
Bankruptcy in the United States - Bankruptcy in the United States is a matter placed under Federal jurisdiction by the United States Constitution (in Article 1, Section 8), which allows Congress to enact "uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States […]". Its implementation, however, is found in statute law.
Mootness - In law, a matter is moot if further legal proceedings with regard to it can have no effect, or events have placed it beyond the reach of the law. Thereby the matter has been deprived of practical significance or rendered purely academic.
